Our Doctor: Debby Cougar, DVM
Dr. Cougar was born on the island of Jamaica. She has always had a love of animals. When she was fourteen, she moved to New Jersey, where she later earned her BS in Animal Science from Rutgers University. This was followed by her DVM degree from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She has since practiced in New Jersey, Connecticut, and has now settled in Pennsylvania.
In December 2008, she founded Simmonds Veterinary Hospital in Allentown. Dr. Cougar lovingly dedicated the hospital to her grandfather, Nathan Simmonds, who raised her. As an experienced and caring veterinarian, Dr. Cougar believes the goal of the Lehigh Valley veterinarians hospital is to provide the patients with outstanding care.
Since 2006, Dr. Cougar has served as consulting veterinarian to the Lafayette College Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). As a member of IACUC, she reviews research protocols, and inspects animal facilities and associated classrooms.
Dr. Cougar shares her home with her cats (Max and Nick), her snakes (Frosty, Stewey, Henry, & Popcorn) and her dog Stanley. In her leisure time, she enjoys gardening, hiking, running, live music, and travel.
